Forms of Education

The forms of education are traditional full-time education and distance education (blended-learning). DGC was the first to start applying distance education methodology in 1992 in Hungary. Our students receive a carefully composed training package at the beginning of each semester, which includes all manuals (textbooks, handbooks, CDs, DVDs, further information sheets, etc.) We provide these packages free of charge.

The College is also one of the pioneers in the introduction of an Electronic Distance Education System. ILIAS is a web based Learning Management System, which allows users to create, to edit and to publish learning and teaching material in an integrated system, in any web browser. The development of ILIAS is coordinated by the University of Cologne. The Hungarian version has been maintained by Dennis Gabor College since 2004.

The customised version of ILIAS installed at DGC coordinates the Internet based distance education services of the University so that it provides the infrastructure for a systematic study of electronic course materials and Internet based communication. It supports studying with web 2.0 tools.

Even after fifteen years innovation, we are continuously applying more and more modern methods and technologies in our work. Dennis Gabor College's 50,000 students so far constitute a considerable base of experience and knowledge that we have accumulated. The continuous improvement of teaching materials is hugely aided by feedback from graduates and their employers.

Our institution is a member of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Students compose their individual curricula from the mandatory, recommended and elective subjects.

Our distance learning system had achieved national and international recognition, and was awarded with the

  • Comenius EduMedia Special Award 2006
  • International Socrates Award 20007
  • Award of the Hungarian Society for Quality 2009
